DESCRIPTION

Overtone singing (also known as diphonic singing, harmonic singing, overtone singing, Oberton singen, etc.) is a set of vocal techniques that make the overtones above a fundamental sound explicit. The most well-known techniques originate from Central Asia, but it is believed they were widespread across the world and might have been the first “music” of humanity.

In addition to providing essential acoustic knowledge, the workshop includes a collective practice known as Chakra Cleansing as a preliminary to the actual overtone singing techniques. The vowel sounds are used primarily to awaken the perception of harmonic sounds and activate what I call Harmonic Consciousness, which develops along the dimensions of perception, production, and control. Finally, the codified techniques of overtone singing will be introduced: techniques using one cavity, two cavities, and throat singing.
