Roberto Laneri composer and multi-instrumentalist (clarinet, saxophone, didgeridoo, specialist in overtone singing), trained in the United States (Ph.D., University of California). Since 1972, he has been working on vocal techniques: in 1973, he founded the group PRIMA MATERIA which employs vocal techniques from Central Asia and Tibet, participating in prestigious events. He has been a guest at major festivals and showcases, including: Evenings on the Roof (Los Angeles); Evenings for New Music (New York); Metamusik-Festival (Berlin); Pro Musica Nova (Bremen); Musik der Zeit (Cologne), Zagreb Biennale; Festival d’Automne (Paris) and many others. His discography includes personal projects (Two Views; Anadyomene; Memories of the Rain-Forest; PRIMA MATERIA; Sentimental Journey; Escher; Breath; Winterträume, Songs of Middle Space) and numerous collaborations.
He gives lectures and courses on overtone singing, among others for the Freies Musik Zentrum (Munich); Atelier d’Exploration Harmonique (Marseille); Italian Yoga Federation; the Sufi Order in the West; ETH Zurich; Holland Festival; Darmstadt Music Institute; National Centre for the Performing Arts (Bombay); Italian Association of Analytical Psychology (AIPA); Cherubini Conservatory and Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, La Sapienza (Rome). Author of reference books on overtone singing La voce dell’arcobaleno and Nel cielo di Indra, a member of the Budapest Club, he taught until 2011 at the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence.
