Sunday 20 – 12.00 : 13.30
Overtone singing allows one to hear, produce, and control specific powerful sound vibrations, developed from ancient physical and spiritual healing techniques. Once widespread across the world and later confined to shamanic and esoteric practices, these techniques have recently been rediscovered by ethnomusicologists, musicians, and a growing number of individuals who practice overtone singing for their own well-being, as well as for musical and spiritual elevation.
Â
The workshop introduces the collective practice known as Chakra Cleansing as a preliminary step to learning the true techniques of overtone singing. Vowel sounds are used to first awaken the perception of harmonic overtones and activate what I call Harmonic Consciousness, which develops through the coordinates of perception, production, and control. Finally, participants will be introduced to the codified techniques of overtone singing: one-cavity techniques, two-cavity techniques, and closed throat (throat singing)Â techniques.
